Using Art to Revitalize Neighborhoods

This artwork is getting noticed!  We thought we should share the story behind the house at 1012 E. Ninth St.

The home is a foreclosed property in the Capitol Park that was donated to HOME, Inc. by Wells Fargo Mortgage. This house is part of our plan to develop new 10 new housing units in the neighborhood over the next two years.

Until we begin working on the house, we agreed to participate in a community art project through the Viva East Bank (VEB) Coalition. VEB is a coalition of resident and partners working together on a shared vision to create positive change Capitol Park, Capitol East and Martin Luther King neighborhoods.  Thank you to our partner Community Housing Initiatives for organizing the community art project and all of the artists who helped turn a neighborhood eyesore into a beautiful work of art.
